Do you dream in colour or black and white?

My uncle had asked me this one day, do you dream in colour or black and white?  Hmm.. I had to think about this one.  I thought back to some the dreams that I did remember and for the life of me couldn’t recall whether it was colour or black and white.  I’ve read that creative thinkers and those with wild imaginations would dream in colour and black and white if you were just feeling down.  I believe it just depends on how you approached your day, your interactions among people, the food you ate, the weather, and other factors.  These will surely play a major role in determining what you would dream about.  Don’t get me wrong though, there are exceptions where dreams are just astonishingly random.

I found out one morning that I definitely was dreaming in colour the night before.  The colours were just so vivid in this dream that it was surely not in shades of grey.  There I was in a super market, strolling down in one of the aisles.  It was the dairy aisle, as I walked past the yogurts, milk, and eggs.  I wasn’t pushing a cart, or holding a basket.  No groceries whatsoever.  Instead, I was holding a baby boy.  He was wearing horizontally striped white and baby blue pajamas and was just adorable.  The other colour I distinctively remembered was his chubby rosy cheeks.  The only puzzling thing about this dream was that I can’t seem to remember whose baby it was…

Anyways, this dream definitely proved that I do sometimes dream in colour.  Do you dream in colour?  And what was your dream about?

  1. I always dream in color … and my dreams seem to either one of two types: really bizzare place but with people I know (friends, family, teachers), or me in an actual place (like work or school) with a believable, possible event occurring. And sometimes I just have that falling sensation.
