I got a surprises visit from my brother today. Two of my favorite things – tea and my brothers!!

I found out one morning that I definitely was dreaming in colour the night before.  The colours were just so vivid in this dream that it was surely not in shades of grey.  There I was in a super market, strolling down in one of the aisles.  It was the dairy aisle, as I walked past the yogurts, milk, and eggs.  I wasn’t pushing a cart, or holding a basket.  No groceries whatsoever.  Instead, I was holding a baby boy.  He was wearing horizontally striped white and baby blue pajamas and was just adorable.  The other colour I distinctively remembered was his chubby rosy cheeks.  The only puzzling thing about this dream was that I can’t seem to remember whose baby it was…

Anyways, this dream definitely proved that I do sometimes dream in colour.  Do you dream in colour?  And what was your dream about?

I originally found out about Project 365 Photos from Mostly Lisa, an amazing photographer and web guru from Vancouver, BC.  The idea is very straight forward where you would take at least 1 photo a day for 365 days, an entire year.  Sounds easy enough you say?  Hardly, the first few weeks are the most difficult as evidenced by my failure last year in 2011 when I gave up at day 29.  With a 9-5 job, it’s often hard to find a unique picture every day.

This year I have some support from the ever so lovely LoveMyFate and the outdoor sports nut 360 Days of David.  We’re keeping each other accountable and should make the project that much more fun.  I’m looking to complete this project this year and I know it’ll be so rewarding in the end.  Each photo has a story that you’ll always remember.  You can go on and share them with your friends and family too.

Anyways, all my photos can be viewed on my Flickr site and the photo of the day is also on the sidebar to your right.  Care to join me on this journey to 365 photos?  You have no excuses especially with all the gadgets with cameras these days.  Go snap some photos!  It’ll be well worth it, trust me!

The collage of photos above are select favourites from my collection throughout the years.  These photos were captured around the world and are very meaningful to me.  Here’s a little story behind each of them from left to right…

This photo was captured right by the Oakland Bay Bridge in San Francisco in 2009.  We were down in the States that year to visit friends, family and celebrate the Lunar Year as well.  The amazing view was from the 52nd floor at One Rincon Hill where a friend had a very sweet apartment suite.  The viewswere just breathtaking.

Next up is a photo of my cousin’s kid in Vietnam.  Her name is Thao My and she had just arrived home from school that day.  Her aunt had given her a ride back from school on a scooter and was bundled up to protect her from the sun and dust.  A handkerchief was used to cover her nose and mouth and a pair of sunglasses to cover her eyes.  This was taken in 2008 and I haven’t seen her since.  I miss her so much!

This lovely dish, Bo Tai Chanh, was one that my mom whipped up one day when I suddenly had a craving for it.  The greens just popped and I knew I had to take a photo.  I used my Nikon D50 for this photo, coupled with my trusty 50mm f1.8 which super sharp and provides crazy bokeh.  Everytime I look at this photo, I always want to open a restaurant.  Be sure to pop over to my Flickrpage for a better view and description of the dish.

This magnificent beautyis my first car that I purchased in April 2010, just a couple days before my birthday actually.  I’ve always loved cars and day dreamed of them night and day throughout the school years.  I just couldn’t wait to get my own car.  This here is a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0t Premium in Karussell White, my absolute favourite colour for a car.  It’s been 2 years and Genna’s still going strong.

Last photo here would be of my dad when we were in Paris in 2006.  We have family that live there, but this was my first visit.  That day I braved myself in the Metro (after careful coaching from my cousins) and took them to the Eiffel Tower.  On the way, we got kicked off a bus because I purchased the tickets incorrectly.. fail.  Anyways, we finally got the Eiffel Tower only to find out that most of the elevators were down and I never got a chance to take my parents up.  This actual photo was taken at the Sacré-Cœur Basilica when we were waiting for my Aunt to come give us a ride home.  My dad’s a great guy and very laid back, too laid back at times.  Can’t wait until this April when we get to cruise together!

What can I say, I love love to eat! Oinky oink!  Trying almost anything at least once.  I’m not nearly as big as a foodie as some individuals though, maybe more of an amateur at this time.  Still a student of foodology.  That’s fine by me though, being a foodie student and continuously learning.  Or in this case, chowing down on some good eats!

This is by no means a foodie blog, but I do have a section for it.  Check out my Pete’s Eats page where I list some of my favourite places to eat in town.  Each place will include an address, type of cuisine, pricing, hearty rating, and a mini review.  Have a place you think I should try, please feel free to drop a line in the comments.  Alright, I’m off, to take my taste buds and appetite on a roller coaster ride!  Burrrrp!

Mmmmm, check out Pete’s Eats

TinyTower by Nimblebit is a simulation game for iOS and Android that was released near the middle of last year.  At the end of this year, Apple named it the game of the year for iPhone for 2011.  This game uses very simple pixelated graphics and puts you in the control of a tower consisting of commercial and residential floors.

The game runs continuously, meaning it’ll operate 24/7 and give you notifications when your tower needs attention.  The super cute characters and theme combined with the simplicity of the game makes it highly addicting.  Careful, I’m hooked on this game.  Let’s see how high I can build my tower!

LIFT is one of the rare restaurants here in Vancouver, BC that uses the Apple iPad2 for their menus.  How freakin’ cool is that?  Not only does it provide an interactive experience for the customer, it gives the restaurant geeky bonus points that will surely create buzz and attraction.

I’ll be checking them out this year for Dine Out Vancouver 2012 happening from January 20 – February 5.  Another bonus will be the amazing views from Coal Harbour.  Cheers!

When photos of the 2013 Genesis Coupe leaked on to the internets, I remained skeptical.  This had to be some sort of fan boy mash up of the current gen and the new Veloster (which has growing on me every time I see one on the road by the way).  Something didn’t look right, the angle of the photos perhaps?

Now, with official photos released… it looks fucking awesome.  I am so jealous.  The couple things I craved for on my current gen were HID headlights and LED day runners which this 2013 generation has.  It looks pretty slick to me.  Can’t wait to see this baby in person.. and go for a test drive.  Oh, I forgot to mention the extra 70 ponies for the 2.0t model.  *Sigh*… I am jealous.

This morning at the E3 conference, Microsoft announced the New Xbox Experience, also known as the new features and look of Xbox Live.  I’m really excited about this because the current blades system does not make use of its screen real estate very efficiently.  There is tons of wasted space towards the sides, mostly apparent in media blades.  I’m totally down for something fresh.  Let’s take a look at some of the other announcements from today:

• Play from hard drive. I think the only way you can take advantage of this is if you have the 120GB HD or at the very least the 60GB HD.  The 20GB HD gets filled up pretty quickly with a couple game demos and some music.  Now you won’t hear the airplane engine-like roar of the spinning disc drive that drowns out the audio.

• Access Xbox Live Marketplace on the Web. This is great for gamers with crazy home theaters with a dozen components to turn on.  My projector set up takes about 2 minutes to warm up and power on, but I would turn it right off after a download.  Not exactly great for the bulb.  This way I can browse Marketplace for a movie/game/trailer/whatever on the web and have it on the Xbox when I’m ready to power it on.

• Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. This was a confusing point for many when announced this morning.  I think what they are referring to is when you press the Guide button, a simpler blade system will pop out instead of the single one.  You can bring this up in a game or in the dashboard.  We’ll have to wait for a video demo of this for clarity.

• Live Party system. This is a neat feature allowing you to gather up a party of 8 friends and do everything online together.  Chat, play games, watch a movie, share photos, and more.

• Xbox Live Primetime. Have you always wanted to be on a game show?  Now you can!  I think this will be particularly successful with groups who enjoy playing as a family.  Live hosts, Achievements, real prizes, and more.  This is a definite winner with gaming families.

• Avatars. Think Mii, but more realistic and customizable.  This will be great for chat rooms or even to integrate into Live Arcade games.  A great addition to your Gamertag and for the Dashboard.  It’ll be interesting where they take this.

• New display support. Now supports 16×10 resolutions, which is what the majority of computer LCD displays.  (1440×900, 1680×1050)

I was actually one of the Beta testers for the very first Xbox Live system on the original Xbox.  Remember that green dashboard that started up with just 4 tabs?  Yah, that one.  Far from perfect, but was still a great experience playing online games that wasn’t on a computer.  I played a fair bit of Revolt, MotoGP, and my favourite, MechAssault all online!

That was in November 2002.  Now 6 years later, Xbox Live has evolved and advanced into a fully featured online experience away from the computer.  It’s so much more than just simply a teenager’s gaming console.  It is now often a core component to any home theater.

Obviously, there are great games that I play on the Xbox, take GTAIV, COD4, and NHL08 for example.  Tons of fun!  Apart from that, there’s also Live Arcade for casual gamers who just want to kick back and relax.  Use the DVD/HDDVD player to watch movies or even rent HD movies without leaving your couch.  Scrooge much?  Then download and watch on the Xbox that comes enabled with DIVX/MPG/WMV and more.  Some other fun features are music and photos.  Remember this is what is currently available at time of writing.  Expect this along with the New Xbox Experience this Fall.  I haven’t even mentioned the upcoming games this Fall yet, but that deserves a post of its own.  Go get an Xbox already!
